Our Story
Following in the footsteps of Craven Boocock, who opened the first Boococks Butchery in Geelong in 1923, John Boocock (far left) and his son Barry (second from left) stand proudly in the Torquay shop in 1957. Today, fourth-generation butcher Marcus Boocock and his wife Patricia help us continue this legacy—where our values of craftsmanship, pride and respect for quality meat live on.

Boococks Butchery is built on over a century of craftsmanship, care, and doing things properly.
Since our beginnings in 1905, and the first Boococks store opening in 1923, the Boocock family name has been synonymous with quality, integrity, and a deep respect for both product and customer. That legacy has been passed down through generations, and today it continues in our four locations across South East Queensland. At our core, everything starts with quality.
We source the best product we can find, prioritising grass-fed, free-range, and clean meat from trusted producers. We handle it properly, we respect it, and we present it in a way that reflects that care. This commitment to quality is not a marketing message – it is the foundation of the business.
But product alone is not enough.
What sets Boococks apart is the way we bring that product to life in-store. We are a service business as much as we are a product business. Every interaction, every display, every detail contributes to the customer experience.
We are not an “old school butcher”. We are a modern, professional retail business built on heritage, but designed for today’s customer.
